BCT supports veterans transition and employment
As the PM’s Outstanding Veterans’ Employer of the Year we understand that leaving the military can be a tough process; and we also know that hiring veterans is good for business. That is why we partner with the Prime Minister’s Veterans’ Employment Program at the Defence Community Organisation Transition Seminars to help veterans’ and their families prepare for transition into civilian life, and to assist them in finding the right place to work – even if it is not with us – by passing on our own stories and experiences.
Over the past month the BCT and Accenture team have spoken with almost 500 veterans at DCO transition seminars in Canberra, Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. We’ve met many new friends and reconnected with our brothers and sisters-in-arms. Our team members were able to provide some real success stories, but we were also clear about the hard parts. There is no template for a transition from the military. Perhaps this is why there is so much frustration around the process.
BCT and Accenture remain committed to supporting our Defence Force and Emergency Services veterans through transition wherever we can – good parts, hard parts or otherwise. We look forward to meeting and reconnecting with many more veterans in the coming year and hope to be a part of future transition seminars in 2020.
