BCT at the ADF’s Cyber Skills Challenge

    13 Nov, 2019 | News

The Royal Australian Signals Corps (RA Sigs) hosted their 3rd annual Cyber Skills Challenge (CSC) last week at Borneo Barracks in Queensland. This year, the challenge opened its doors to Defence Industry partners and BCT was lucky enough to attend. Participants came from the UK, US, and NZ partners, as well as across our Tri-Services and Industry.

The event was hosted by the RA Sigs Head of Corps, Brigadier Susan Coyle, CSC, and the Head of Information Warfare, Major General Marcus Thompson, AM, was the patron of the event.

BCT’s Marcus Alexander, himself a cyber expert who has recently transferred from Army, took advantage of the opportunity to hone his cyber security skills and network with his peers and colleagues still in the service and the Defence industry.

The week-long event consisted of presentations by some of the industry’s leading cyber security organisations, workshops for all to participate in and a 2-day Cyber Skills Challenge, to put all these skills and more to the test.

An invaluable opportunity for both ADF and Defence partners to get together and push the limits of their knowledge, and to create and maintain valuable networks across the globe. BCT and Accenture look forward to more opportunities for engagement with Australia’s cyber warriors.

Well done to the 7th Signal Regiment who came first and second and New Zealand’s Defence Cyber Team who came in third place.

Key participants included the ADF services, Department of Defence, Australian Government Agencies, FVEY partners, and Industry. Some fantastic presentations from Dr Silvio Cesare of Infosect and Praneil Kumar of BAE topped off the week.
